Memang sistem pelajaran di Malaysia berorientasikan peperiksaaan. Namun ia juga turut dipraktikkan di negara-negara lain. Bagi aku, ini merupakan salah satu cara untuk menilai sejauh mana kefahaman dan penguasaan pelajar2 terhadap ilmu yang diajar.

Masalah terlalu "exam oriented" bukan sahaja dialami oleh pelajar Malaysia. Malah aku percaya setiap institusi pendidikan di luar negara turut mengalami masalah yang sama. Ini berdasarkan pengalaman aku yang belajar di New Zealand. Prestasi akademik aku disini masih dinilai menerusi peperiksaan. Tetapi di universiti aku, terdapat juga subjek2 yang dinilai menerusi "internal assessment" sahaja.

Contoh masalah (ini aku quote dari artikel tersebut):

1. The education system is too examination-oriented, placing a heavy burden on teachers to complete the curriculum and students to "regurgitate" what they have been taught.

2. schoolchildren are not being taught the skills they need to compete in the 21st century workplace.

3. School teachers and university instructors lament that they have insufficient time to complete the syllabus so non-examination subjects are given less emphasis and sometimes completely ignored.

Ini pendapat aku untuk masalah

(1)

Aku tidak boleh menjawab persoalan mengenai bebanan yang dipikul seseorang guru. Ini kerana aku tidak berada di tempat mereka lagi. Tapi aku percaya mengajar bukan suatu tugas yang mudah. Walau bagaimanapun, aku masih tidak nampak, tidak faham dan masih tertanya-tanya bagaimana sistem pelajaran berorientasikan peperiksaan (SPBP) dianggap sebagai bebanan yang berat terhadap seseorang guru untuk menamatkan kurikulum dibandingkan dengan sistem lain. (by the way, sistem apa lagi yang ada.. hehe.. ye aku kurang pengetahuan/ignorant).

Adakah banyak masa diambil untuk menyediakan kertas peperiksaan sehingga mengganggu guru tersebut untuk mengajar?

Apakah jika kita mengubah sistem peperiksaan yang sedia ada dapat meringankan beban guru dan memberi ruang kepada pelajar untuk lebih memahami apa yang diajar?

Bagi aku walau apa jua sistem yang diamalkan, beban yang terletak dibahu seseorang guru masih sama. Tugas seorang guru bukan hanya untuk memuntahkan ilmu-ilmu pengetahuan tetapi perlu mendidik mereka menjadi insan yang berguna untuk agama, keluarga, bangsa dan negara. Ini termasuk aspek tingkah laku, pertuturan dan cara berfikir.

Memang pembentukan peribadi dan sahsiah seseorang pelajar bermula dari rumah. Tetapi aku percaya guru juga berkongsi tanggungjawab yang sama.

Itu definasi guru bagi aku.

Sebagai seorang pelajar, aku rasa aku layak untuk memberi pendapat berkenaan SPBP. Aku adalah hasil daripada sistem ini. Aku sangat tidak suka mengambil peperiksaan. Rutin sebagai pelajar adalah belajar, membuat assignment/homework/kerja sekolah dan peperiksaan. Selepas peperiksaan, aku lupa apa yang aku telah belajar. Mungkin tidak lupa semua :D Tetapi aku tidak ingat semua.

Walaubagaimanapun, bagi aku ada peperiksaan atau tidak, bukan alasan kukuh untuk menghalang pelajar mencerna apa yang diajar. Bagi aku, masalah faham atau tidak ini bergantung kepada individu itu sendiri. Jika aku tidak faham semasa di dalam kelas, kenapa aku tidak terus bertanya atau berjumpa dengan guru itu sendiri pada masa lain untuk penerangan? Usaha itu penting. Banyak masa diperlukan untuk persediaan peperiksaan bukan alasan untuk tidak faham. Malah selepas ada usaha untuk memahami, peperiksaan bukan lagi satu masalah besar. Betul tak? Kalau dah tahu atau dah faham, maka peperiksaan jadi lebih mudah dan tidak dilihat sebagai suatu bebanan.

Kadang-kadang aku belajar last minute hanya untuk pass. Tetapi peperiksaan itu sendiri membuat aku sedar apa yang aku belajar. Dalam tidak sedar, aku masih memperoleh sesuatu. Kan?

Aku setuju dan sedar wujudnya masalah ini. Mungkin sistem pendidikan di negara kita harus dirombak dan dinilai semula. Cuma aku masih mahu mengekalkan sistem peperiksaan, namun dengan pendekatan yang lebih baik atau lebih lembut.

Notice: These tips are applicable for Malay girls’ blogs only. My international friends may think it’s weird but our cultures are different so they may not think that these tips are cool.

How to Write a Girl’s Blog.

1.Talk About Fun Things

Leave it to men to write intellectual blogs, your blogs are about your sweet memories, hobbies, dream and fantasy. Say that you don’t care about the politics and economy because they’re boring so you don’t wish to think about them even for a minute. Talk about your favorite movies, shoes, food, actors and etc. If you want to do something fun in the future, say that you can’t wait for the fun moment. Don’t forget to also tell people about your dream and fantasy.


2.Show Your Shopping List

I have never met any girl who doesn’t admit that she’s a shopaholic. Thank God, they help to keep the economy moving but unfortunately their spouse’s wallets are getting thin. Make a list that shows the stuffs that you want to buy or you dream that you could have them. It’s better to show pictures of the exact things that want to add to your HUGE collection. I’ve seen body parts being added in the list as well. Oh, those girls probably want to have a plastic surgery someday.


3.Talk About Your Stress

I would make an official statistic if I have time but for now, I believe that 98% of the word ‘stress’ in all blogs in the world is in girls’ blogs. Rant about your school, work, co-workers, assignments and everything so you can to tell people how stressed you are.


4.Talk About Your Crush

Guys have crush too but they don’t write about it in their blog. Girls have to describe how in love they are since they first met the ‘handsome guy’. Explain the details like the guy’s hair, chest, eyes, arms, smile and etc. Don't do that if you're not single. Instead, talk about your boyfriend and say that he’s really sweet.


5.Add Background Image and Music

Don’t use plain background color. Instead, use fancy background image with suitable color that makes your blog looks ‘cute’. Be sure the background image is fancy enough to make it’s hard to read your posting. If you know how to do it, add background music as well. It may be annoying as hell but who cares, it’s your blog!


6.Simplify Your Words

This is more obvious in girl’s IM, Facebook wall post and SMS rather than in blogs but there are some girls who also simplify words in blogs as if they’re too lazy to move their fingers. This is an example: “ble ah nk abes prjk nie, dh tensen dah ni.. tringin nk gi shah alam jpe membe, windoo kat diowg..kes kes kes.. nti ujonk bln ak ngan bbdk ofis gi trip kat sabah, abes duwet gji ak, hahaha..rse mls nk gi tp dh diowg ajk so ak on je la ;-)”


7.Decorate Your Blog with Capital Letter and Symbol

This is not interesting. ThiS iS iNteRestiNg ;-). Don’t mAkE yOUr bl0g lO0k plAiN and dull, usE cApiTaL letteRs and sYmb0Ls to dEcorate iT. Don’t uSe 1337. 1337 aRe fOr n00bs, nOt giRLs.


8.Show Pictures of You and Your Friends

What kind of girl’s blog that doesn’t have pictures in it? Shows you and your friends’ pictures and say that you really miss them. It could be old pictures or photos from your recent holiday trip. Be sure the pictures are cute and you don’t look fat in the pictures. Be sure all your female friends look nice in the pictures too or they will be ranting about it in the comment section.


9.Show That You Know About Brands

Don’t take it wrong, it not about the brands of cars, basketball shoes, laptops, game consoles, cell phones and operating systems. It's about the brands for fashion. Share your knowledge about the nice brands for shoes, perfumes, skirts, make ups, dresses, handbags and anything that you’re dying to have them. Remember, it has to be the latest brands, not the old ones.


10.Talk About Entertainment

This might be confusing because anything can be entertainment. For me, seeing Dr Khir Toyo loses in election in an entertainment. What I mean about the entertainment in girl’s blog is MTV, Hollywood, filem Melayu, America’s Next Top Model and the new album of a handsome rock singer. If you have a lot of knowledge about them, then why talk about the economy? Talk about the entertainment!


11.Poems and Lyrics

If you wrote a poem, then share it in you blog. If there's a song that touches your heart, the share the lyric in your blog!


12.Overall
Here’s a good rule of thumb. The more people’s IQ drop when they read the blog, the better the blog is.
